How to Root Nokia X in 5 quick steps

Xda member kashamalaga got hold of a Nokia X device at the MWC. Returning home, the first thing he tried was to get Google services working on Nokia's first Android device which forces its users to use Microsoft and Nokia's services instead. The first step in doing that was - obviously - to root the phone.

Thanks to kashamalaga, we are here with a tested working rooting guide for the Nokia X. Follow the steps in the guide exactly as given to avoid any complicacies.

Before you proceed:

  • Make sure that your phone is not low on battery.
  • If Nokia X is your first Android device, you probably don't know much about rooting. Read what is rooting and its pros and cons to decide whether you want to go for it or not.
  • Rooting voids your device's manufacturer warranty. Though the process doesn't involve unlocking the bootloader, unrooting the phone might or might not restore the warranty of your device. So, make sure you know what you are doing before proceeding ahead.

How to Root Nokia X using Framaroot:

  • Download Framaroot application from xda.Transfer Framaroot's apk to the internal or external sd card of your Nokia X.
  • Using any file manager, install the application on your phone. If you haven't enabled sideloading, you might be instructed to do so before you are able to install this application.
  • Open Framaroot. Select Gandalf Exploit and Install SuperSU.
  • Once your Nokia X reboots, you should see an app named SuperSU in your list of applications.

To confirm that your device has rooted successfully, read this.
Rooting wasn't the only thing kashamalaga did on his Nokia X. He also managed to get Play Store, Google Now and other Google Services working on the device. Stay tuned for more.
