Motorola has announced that its bang-for-buck smartphone - Moto G - is the most successful smartphone in the US manufacturer's history.
In an official statement Motorola said that, "The Moto G is the most successful, highest-selling smartphone in Motorola's history." While Moto G exceptionally stands out among its siblings for its value for money factor, Motorola is no stranger to producing quality smartphones like Moto Droid, X among others. But most of these have been exclusive to the US.
Moto G hit the sweet spot by getting launched in several markets - with tailored dual sim variants for countries like India and Brazil, and was priced astoundingly low. This explains why the smartphone has been a phenomenal hit so far in India, among other countries.
Motorola was recently sold by Google to Lenovo for about $3 billion as the device manufacturer was causing Google huge losses in each quarter. It would have been interesting if Google had decided to stick on to it for a bit longer and with phones like Moto G and Moto X (which is now marking its entry to other markets), Motorola might have proved a profit-earner for Google in the future.
