Micromax launches A93 Canvas Elanza with 5" qHD res and 1 GB RAM for Rs. 9400

Micromax has added a new Android smartphone to its sub-10k lineup in India. Canvas Elanza, the newest addition to Micromax portfolio, has been listed on India's major online retailer Snapdeal for a price tag of Rs. 9400.

The device fails to be a head-turner with its sleazy curved looks and mediocre specifications for the price tag. At 5 inch, the qHD resolution (540x960 pixels) would churn out a pixel density of just 220 pixels per inch. The Canvas Elanza is powered by a 1.3 GHz dual core processor and a 5 MP shooter at the back.

Micromax A93 Canvas Elanza Specifications:

  • 5 inch display
  • qHD resolution (540x960 pixels) at 220 ppi
  • 1.3 GHz Dual Core processor (most possibly a Mediatek one)
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 5 MP primary camera, 0.3 MP secondary camera
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 4 GB Internal memory
  • 1950 mAh battery
  • 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Dual SIM
These specifications sound no better than the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2, which has a smaller 4 inch screen but manages a higher ppi density, a 5 MP shooter at the back and a dual core processor. Galaxy S Duos 2 is available on Flipkart for a similar price tag (Rs. 9760). So, it looks like Micromax is feeling confident enough to price its devices on par with Samsung. Whether this strategy reaps any benefits for Micromax is yet to be seen.
