Nokia X Press Render leaked - confirms Name, Indian launch for Rs. 6,500 during IPL 2014

The upcoming launch of Nokia X has already been confirmed by WSJ and now @evleaks has come with another round of leak providing us with the press renders of Nokia X in green. As is evident from the press render, Nokia X will indeed be named Nokia X commercially. A green colored Nokia X is displayed in the image though it is expected that the Nokia X will be available in different colors.

Talking about the Indian launch of the device, sources from within Nokia have disclosed that after the MWC unveling of the phone, it will be made available in India within a month's time. That puts the Indian launch date to near about April. The same sources have also revealed that Nokia will be doing a huge IPL campaign to interest more buyers for the device. As Nokia sponsors Kolkata Knight Riders, we can see KKR players and/or Shahrukh Khan promoting the Nokia X during this year's IPL season.

As most Android lovers would not like the fact that Nokia X will be running a forked version of Android 4.4 KitKat, it is most likely that Play Store availability and AOSP roms for the device might materialize soon after its launch, which will let users enjoy true Android experience on their Nokia X.

Nokia X Rumored Specs:

  • 4 inch display with 480x800 resolution (WVGA, 233 ppi)
  • 1 GHz dual core Snapdragon processor
  • 512 MB RAM
  • Android 4.4 KitKat Forked version without Google Play Store and Play Services
  • Dual SIM support
  • 5 MP primary camera
  • 1500 mAh battery
If rumors are anything to go by, the phone could be launched around the price tag of Rs. 6,500. If this thing really materialises, we could see a Moto G kinda rush for getting this smartphone and would cause more trouble for Samsung, Micromax in others in the low-end price segment.
