Back in June, we had heard words about Google's collaboration with Spice Mobility to open Android stores in India. Looks like the plan is finally turning into reality as Spice has launched two AndroidLand Stores, in Bangalore and Noida.
At the launch event, Dilip Modi, co-founder, Spice Global, said
The stores will provide complete Android experience, along with free WiFi to let customers experience internet usage. Google Play Zone will allow customers to download various apps to their devices from Google Play. Customers will also be able to try out latest tablets and mobiles from top brands including Sony, Samsung, LG, Micromax, Spice, Karbonn, HTC, Lenovo and Xolo.
All in all, this store concept seems to make sense. With about 91% of smartphones in India running on Android OS and expected growth in smartphone segment, these AndroidLand stores will help both Google and Spice to broaden their audiences. Spice plans to upgrade some of its HotSpot retail stores to AndroidLand stores. Spice will be launching 100 AndroidLand Mini, miniature versions of the full blown AndroidLand stores.
Looking at some pictures from the AndroidLand stores, we are pretty confident that you would love to pay an AndroidLand store a visit whenever you are planning to buy a new Android device, if it gets launched in your city.

We are excited to launch the first AndroidLand store in India. We are confident customers will love the fun and engaging store concept that we developed in collaboration with Google. We have created a destination for customers to experience Android technology and learn about what they can do with mobile Internet. We believe that this new concept will add value not only to our customers, but also to the entire Android Ecosystem including App Developers and Device manufacturers. The Stores will have Spice Android Gurus who will give expert advice to help people decide their next Android smartphone and then help them setup and customize their phone while recommending them some cool apps.
