Karbonn Titanium S5 is one of the best value for money Android smartphone inn its price bracket. Just like any other Android phone, if you are an advanced Android user, you will want to root your Karboon Titanium S5 so as to perform root only tasks on it and to customize it to your own requirements. For those new to the Android or Rooting world, you should first give a read to the What is Rooting and What you can do after Rooting to get an idea of what we are talking about and whether it is actually feasible for you to risk the warranty of your phone in order to get superuser rights on it.
This guide will cover both Rooting the Titanium S5 as well as installing Clockworkmod Recovery on it. First off, we will deal with the Rooting part and the Clockworkmod Recovery installation guide will follow in this article itself.
Rooting voids your manufacturer warranty. Unrooting at a later point of time generally restores the warranty, but there may be circumstances under which you won’t be able to unroot your device.

Things to do before following the guides:
Charge your Karbonn Titanium S5 to 50% or more. This is required just to ensure that your phone stays up and alive during the rooting process.
Enable USB Debugging on your device. As it runs on Android 4.1.2, this can be done by going to Settings > Development > USB Debugging.
Rooting Karbonn Titanium S5:
- Install drivers for your phone using Pdanet.
- Download and extract Motochopper anywhere on your computer.
- Connect your phone to the PC using USB Cable.
- In the folder in which you extracted Motochopper, run the batch script file named Run.bat
- Follow the instructions that appear in the command prompt that just opened.
- If asked to accept USB Debugging connection on your device, select OK.
- Once the rooting process completes, your device will reboot. Once it reboots, check if the rooting process was successful.
Installing Clockworkmod Recovery on Karbonn Titanium S5:
- Download and extract Adb-Fastboot.rar on your computer.
- Download Clockworkmod Recovery image file for your Karbonn Titanium S5.
- Rename this file to recovery.img and copy it to the folder in which you extracted the ADB-Fastboot.
- Switch off your phone. Now press and hold Power + Volume Up button till your phone powers on and you see a green screen.
- If in Windows 7 or 8, go to the folder in which the recovery image as well as the other fastboot files are present. While holding Shift key, right click on an empty space withing Windows Explorer and select the Open Command Window here option. If on Windows Xp, open Command Prompt and manually get to the location of these files.
- In the command window, enter the command:
- fastboot devices
- If you see your device listed there, all is well. If no device shows up, there is something wrong with the drivers. If you receive Unknown Command Fastboot error, it means that you haven’t opened Command Prompt in the correct location.
- Hoping you are well off till now, enter the command:
- fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Once the process completes, boot into the just flashed Clockworkmod Recovery. To do that, switch off your device, press and hold Power + Volume Up button. When a green screen appears, release the power button while still holding the Volume Up one. When you see a red screen, press the Home button.
That’s it. You are done rooting and installing clockworkmod recovery on your Karbonn Titanium S5.
