Samsung has finally put the wraps off its current flagship device in India, in a press event held at Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon attended keenly by the tech media. The Korean manufacturer has decided to launch the lucrative Exynos Octa core version of S4 in India at a justifiable price of INR 41,500.
The launch of the Octa Core version has made many potential S4 buyers. India is one of the few countries where the Octa Core version will be available, even US has to be content with the 1.9 GHz Quad core version of the device.
Pricing:
The price tag in itself doesn’t seem justifiable for a phone, given that one can get a more than decent laptop at that price point. But considering the price of other flagship devices like the HTC’s One (42k) and Apple’s iPhone 5 (starts at 45k), and the unbelievable hardware it comes loaded, we have a deal here. Some people had been speculating that the S4 might come at a steep price of 50-60k, giving Apple a real challenge in terms of pricing, we are happy that Samsung has decided not to compete in the pricing race.
Availability:
The device will be available from 27th April i.e. tomorrow. From 12 a.m. to 4 p.m., the S4 will be available in Samsung’s premium brand stores in the metro cities and Samsung e-store. Those who manage to get a S4 during these initial 4 hours have been assured a surprise gift. Elsewhere, the phone will be available from 4 p.m. onwards.
To the joy of many S4 lovers, Samsung has confirmed that the S4 will be available under the highly advertised 0% E.M.I. scheme.

Samsung has teamed up with Vodafone to provide unlimited data, up to 3,000 local/STD minutes and 750 national SMS. It will be interesting to see whether the unlimited internet plan is truly unlimited, because there is no true unlimited 3G plan in India till now. Just like Samsung did with Galaxy Grand, Galaxy S4 will also come with goodies worth INR 12k. Samsung hasn’t provided any details about what the goodies will be but it will be reasonable to speculate that Samsung will provide some e-content for free.
