Canvas 4 has rode high on the rumors side, with some going to the extent that the phone will feature an octo-core processor. Come July 8 and all the suspense will be unveiled but by what we are seeing on the internet so far, the picture doesn't look that exciting.
Here are the very few things about Canvas 4 that have been officially confirmed by the Micromax Mobiles fan page:
Here are the very few things about Canvas 4 that have been officially confirmed by the Micromax Mobiles fan page:
- A few images posted on the fan page confirms how the Canvas 4 will appear
- A new unlock method will be introduced in the phone which will either be Voice Unlock (which has already been available in the Android 4.2 update of Canvas HD) or a blow of air (as suggested here)
That isn't much, right? But the first point leads us to several other details about the phone, if our eyes aren't getting fooled by the looks. A friend of mine spotted the pics of Wiko Stairway, an upcoming phone from a French brand and they look strikingly similar to the pics posted by Micromax on their Facebook page. The only difference we could spot in the pics was the fist shaped Micromax logo was absent from the Wiko model. But the looks didn't disappoint me, but the specs did -a lot.
Here are the specs of the Wiko Stairway:
- 5 inch HD IPS Display (The site doesn't mention full HD, so it might be just 720p)
- 13 MP Camera at the back and a 5 MP shooter at the front
- Gorilla Glass protection
- 1 GB RAM
- 1.2 GHz Quad-core Cortex A7 processor
- 16 GB Internal storage
- 2000 mAh Battery
- Measures at 144.5 x 73 x 9 mm and weighs 164 g
There are quite a few things we liked in the specsheet like the camera, internal storage, display and the fact that the phone is having an aluminium design giving it a premium look. Everything else is disappointing, especially the processor and ram. When everyone was hoping for at least 1.5 Ghz Quad-core and 2 gigs of RAM, the above specs will disappoint many Micromax fans.
We hope that only the looks of the two phones are same and that the Canvas 4 comes out to be much more stronger on the processing side. But we can only hope. If you are thinking about pre-booking the Micromax Canvas 4, we would advise you to put your INR 5k in a bank and enjoy the extra interest you will get in the one month or so that Micromax will take to refund your money, if you decide not to buy the phone once the official specs are out. If you are really keen about having the Canvas 4, at least wait for the specs first. I don't know what Micromax had in mind when they started pre-booking without even revealing anything about the phone.
